The Story of Scripture:
We watched a video of Chinese Christians receiving Bibles for the first time. They were crying and were very excited.
1 Peter 2:2 says, "As newborn babe's, desire [crave] the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:"
Throughout history, people have tried to stop the Bible from being shared, but without success.
We learned the story of William Tyndale. In his day, it was illegal to read the Word of God. It was written in Latin, and the only people who could read this were clergy or highly educated. Commoners who quoted the Bible were treated as criminals, and even executed. We are blessed to have easy access to the Word of God!
Tyndale believed all people should be able to read the Bible, so he began to tirelessly translate the Word into English. He paid a heavy price for this, as he was burned at the stake.
There have been many who sacrificed their lives to make the Bible accessible to all people. Yet, so many Bibles set on shelves gathering dust, even in Christians homes...
Let us never take the Word of God for granted! Let us love and cherish it!
